TMs & LEARNING MOVES !As TMs -- Technical Machines -- and HMs -- Hidden Moves -- are quite essential in the Pokemon world just as learned moves are, they deserve their own thread for them. The numbers for TMs and HMs work as the current updated games; so, currently, we are using data from Pokemon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, as well as our own mechanics. This means that ---- TMs can be reused over and over; they don't get destroyed once you use them, so you don't have to keep going out and buying them.Learning moves are still the same as how they currently are -- no changes are currently necessary. If you have any questions about this, feel free to message RABDOM .
-- Pokemon can learn up to two TMs at one time; however, this is added on to their naturally learned and egg moves. This means that Pokemon can learn up six moves at once; four moves that are naturally learned or learned through breeding, and two TMs. TMs and moves must be replaced if you want to add another move.
-- TMs can be given or traded in between trainers and you can have more than one.
-- TMs, like in the games, can be bought, given as rewards or even for beating a gym leader. Most will be randomized when given out.HMs !
Unlike TMs, HMs on this site work completely differently than in the games. HMs are more commonly given out by special characters or talking to someone in order to receive them, as well as a gym badge. However, not all characters are going to be battling gym leaders; nor not all of the NPCs you originally meet will show up for every single character. So with KMO, we'll be going a little bit more logically.
Firstly, when it comes to using Pokemon to do certain things, such as fly or surf, Pokemon will actually need to be able to use that move. No, I don't mean that they need to actually be able to learn it (well, they do, but that's not where I'm going with this), they need to be able to realistically be able to learn that move in the first place. Meaning, a Pidgey or Spearow will logically be unable to carry a trainer of any size and weight, so they will not be able to learn the moves *fly. Pidgeot and Fearow, however, will be able to easily carry a trainer on their back or by picking them up via their claws and *fly them where they need to go. The same goes for sure; a Squirtle, while able to aid in swimming, won't actually be able to surf with a trainer on its back, as it is not large enough for that. A Blastoise, however, will be more than able to.*When it comes to flying trainers to and from places, in game rules still apply when flying from place to place. This means that unless your character has been to that city or route -- as you are allowed on KMO to have your Pokemon to take you to a certain route instead of a nearby city -- that character must have first been to that place and finished a thread there before being able to fly there. When it comes to objects that obstruct a trainer's path -- on KMO, those objects will be removed in roleplay, so characters can move freely and don't need a move like rock smash to get to another route. However, when using such moves for roleplay purposes, again the Pokemon must be logcially able to use that move to begin with. A Ratatta might not be able to use strength, however Machoke and Machamp should be able to lift and push heavy objects with ease. Likewise, Treecko might not be able to cut trees without something to cut with, but Grovyle and Sceptile can.
