CHARACTER NAME: Amelia Lucas
AGE: 20
CLASS: Civilian - Professional Writer/Pokemon rescuer
HOMETOWN: Celadon City
APPEARANCE: [Amelia]Long flowing blonde hair reaches to this young woman's waist, with the slightest curl to the entire length and two slightly shorter strands on either side of her face. She has slightly narrow blue eyes that view the world with curiosity and wonder despite her age. She's slender and has gentle curves. Amelia is 5'5, most of this being made up of her long limbs and torso. Most commonly she can be seen in comfortable blouses and shorts even in colder seasons as she's very warm natured. Only snow will make her wear long sleeves.
She always moves with intent, trying not to waste her movements due to her weakness in her younger years. She works hard to keep herself healthy and fit. During the warmer months she can be found with various vines and flowers decorating her long hair, which is always left down around her shoulders. Her favorite color is amethyst.
PERSONALITY: Gentle and soft spoken, this young woman does her best to listen and learn from the world around her. She prefers to talk rather than fight, and finds the concept of pokemon battles to be brutal and cruel on the pokemon. She views pokemon as companions and friends, and hates being around trainers that don't treat their pokemon with the respect that they deserve.
Amelia is creative and open minded, seeking out new things to inspire her and often found off in her own little world or out in the middle of nowhere just to sit and watch the wild pokemon roam. She loves all pokemon, but secretly she would love to someday have a real encounter with the pokemon Riolu, the unevolved form of the pokemon Lucario who stars prominently in her novels.
HISTORY: Born to two pokemon trainers Amelia was always around pokemon even at a young age. Her mother's Growlithe was her primary companion when she was a baby, always staying at her side to keep her company. She found out later that her mother found the fire type pokemon to be too weak for battling and so had gotten him for the exact reason of keeping her child company. Amelia never understood what was wrong with Growlithe being her friend, she thought he was perfect just the way he was despite her mother's reasoning. Her father was actively travelling for most of her childhood, and so she saw very little of him except for when he'd come home to visit around the holiday season. She was often sick and weak when she was small, catching colds and bugs and just overall unable to get out and enjoy the world much like other children. Due to this she didn't have any friends her own age, and grew very close to the Growlithe that often kept an eye on her while her mother was training her pokemon. Being in the city didn't agree with her delicate body, and so when she turned four her parents decided to send her to her maternal grandfather in the Alola region where the weather was nicer year round and there wasn't near the hustle and bustle of the big city of Celadon.
So, at the tender age of four, her mother packed her up and traveled to the Alola region to leave her only child with her father. It was the first time that Amelia had been anywhere other than Celadon City, and the vibrant and green lands of Melemele Island fascinated and ignited her little girl brain. Though she still got sick often at first, she was allowed to go outside to her grandfather's garden and play with his pokemon friends. It was the first time she'd seen pokemon that were loved and cherished as members of a family instead of used for competition and fighting. Her grandfather had pokemon for companionship and protection, but told her that a pokemon should only have to fight to defend their friends from danger. He filled her head and dreams with thoughts of making friends with all the wild pokemon that lived around his home, the ideals of a lonely little girl. Except that wild pokemon didn't always like having humans around, and only six months after arriving Amelia was chased by a wild Spearow and got lost in the woods that surrounded her grandfather's home. She tried to find her way home, but only managed to wander deeper and deeper into the woods. Eventually she got tired and laid down under a tree to rest. When she awoke it was to the sight of a strange pokemon staring at her from the other side of a nearby tree. Curious she got up to go see what it was, but each time she wandered more than seven feet close to it the pokemon would move further away again. If she lost sight of this pokemon it would reappear and seemed to want her to follow it. Eventually, just as dawn was breaking Amelia found herself back at the edge of the forest. The pokemon that had saved her, had lead her back to where she could be found, vanished without a trace. Her grandfather was happy to see her, and she was scolded for wandering off and finally understood that sometimes pokmeon weren't nice and she should be careful. The pokemon she'd seen, as she would later describe to her grandfather, was known as Lucario. He told her that it was likely the Guardian of the Forest and that she was a very special girl if the Guardian himself had decided to help her. When she spoke to her parents about the ordeal a few days later, her mother told her that she had likely been running a fever and had thus dreamed seeing the pokemon. Regardless, her mother's Growlithe was sent to her within a week.
For several years Amelia spent her days in Alola, making friends with the nicer wild pokemon and playing with Growlithe. Her grandfather started to teach her about pokemon in the wider world and encouraged her to learn what she could. Mostly, she took from him how she should treat pokemon, and although her parents chose to be trainers she didn't have be one too if she didn't to be. She could be anything and still spend her life with pokemon, it was all a preference. As she aged Amelia's sickness became less and less, but at eleven her mother deemed her still too weak to start her own pokemon journey and Amelia was left heartbroken. So she started writing stories, tales of pokemon and the adventures they went on with their friends. Stories told from the eyes of pokemon themselves, prominitely staring her mother's Growlithe and the mysterious Lucario that had saved her even though she wasn't sure she'd even seen what she thought she saw. When she was sixteen her mother sent for the Growlithe that had been her companion for many years, and she wouldn't learn until a year later that the canine pokemon had been released as her mother thought that she was now old enough not to need the pokemon constantly at her side. This broke her heart, and on that day she swore she'd someday go out and find that Growlithe so she could be reunited with her best friend once again.
At eighteen Amelia's parents sent for her to return home to Celadon City. As her health was now much better they felt it best that she come back. They would spend the next several months trying to get the dreams and ideas of Alola and her grandfather out of her head. This didn't work, of course, and eventually they gave up the notion of making their child 'normal' again. Just after her nineteenth birthday Amelia would release her first professional book in what she promised would be a series of them. "Tales of Walden Grove" The stories of her childhood had formed into big dreams and the desire to write those stories for a new generation no matter what anyone else said. She wanted to spend her days dreaming and writing and making friends with pokemon, and was finally able to move out of her parents' home with a small savings. Now, with a book on the shelf and another in her head waiting to be written, this young woman is ready to take on the world and start the adventure she's been denied since she was eleven years old. An adventure with pokemon, friendship, and dreams coming true. And maybe, just maybe, she'd see the friend she lost again someday.
