She was the patient sort, but only when she wasn't bored. Over the past few months, Arcania had found herself tiring of spending day in and day out doing the same old thing, never making any more progress. IF she wanted to move forward, she was going to have to actually make an attempt.
So, while it was delightful hanging around her shop, poisoning the occasional customer who annoyed her, and stealing other people's Pokemon, Arcania now found herself heading for the one place she'd never imagined she would: the Pokemon lab.
It was, she supposed, an impressive building. It ought to be, considering what all went on there. Now, so long as she could get the Pokemon she wanted and get out without getting the urge to strangle anyone, she would be off to an excellent start to her new journey in life.
Arcania entered, sparing a quick glance around to take in her surroundings before clearing her throat expectantly. The faster someone paid attention to her, the better off they would be for the encounter.
The day had been relatively boring. Aside from a few trainers stopping by to drop off their Pokemon, the staff of the laboratory had a pretty unfulfilling day with not much to do besides watch the Pokemon frolic -- which was why the Professor was both surprised and elated when he heard someone walk through the front doors behind him. The sudden sound caused him to jump, the Bulbasaur next him stepping back as a few objects fell to the ground.
"Just one moment!" called Professor Oak as he swiftly -- albeit haphazardly -- picked up the fallen belongings.
The Bulbasaur jump down from its place on the table, using its vines to pick up some of the scattered items that fell under the table. Once finished, Oak brushed off his lab coat with a sigh before turning towards the new person.
"Sorry about that!" he apologized as he approached, the Bulbasaur close behind. "I wasn't expecting anyone coming in today. I assume you're here for your starter Pokemon?"
She was... remarkably unimpressed by the disarray she found when she walked in. That anyone would allow this to happen displeased her, but she refrained from allowing it to show on her face. She was better than that. Besides, sucking up to this guy could perhaps send her off with a better Pokemon.
As it so happened, he had as his companion at the moment the very one she wanted. Though, perhaps not exactly that one considering it was evidently some kind of helper. Or so she assumed. She wanted one with a bit more... unhelpfulness, as it were.
"That is correct," she said, offering a sugar sweet smile that she generally reserved for the most innocent customers. Those looking for gifts for their spouses or those who were actual children. "I was wanting a Bulbasaur, actually." Though she had a remarkable liking for fire and dragons, Arcania also knew where her forte was: plants and poison. This particular Pokemon combined both.
"Bulbasaur? Of course!" Oak replied, nodding to the grass type beside him. The Bulbasaur seemed surprised for a moment, before standing and trotting over to the woman. "Bulbasaur is a Pokemon that's rather easy to raise," Oak went on, spinning on his heel to the back area of the lab where he had been. "Their dual type can come in handy, however. Especilly if well trained."
The Professor seemed to pick up a few items -- a bag and a strange red object -- before returning to the awaiting trainer. He then gestured the items to her.
"There's some useful items in this bag here," Professor Oak informed, "such as potions and Pokeballs. And this," he gestuered to the red object, "is your Pokedex. It helps you learn about the various Pokemon you run into, as well sends us more data on them. It's very useful in research."

She didn't care about the useless information he gave her, already knowing how useful the Pokemon she had chosen could be. Its ability to take care of the plants in her shop would be helpful even if she chose to stop her journey after some time. It would be even more useful when evolved, though, so she was eager to get out and begin to work with it.
Naturally, she wasn't interested in helping anyone in the process of her own journey, but she accepted the Pokedex anyway. Perhaps there would be some way to disable it. Or, perhaps it would prove useful to her in some way she hadn't seen yet.
"Come along," she said to the Bulbasaur, turning to leave with the Pokemon trotting faithfully at her side.
