Tess is a 16-year-old former dancer from Ecruteak City. She ran away from her home and family to New Bark Town, where she got a job at the lab. She's currently getting ready to leave New Bark Town for some fieldwork. She is also hiding her identity and traveling under the guise of a young boy.
Tess is stunted both physically and socially by her abusive past. She has a serious and aloof exterior, but is surprisingly kindhearted and empathetic past her emotional walls. She is eager to please those she likes and willing to go to great lengths to help anyone in need. She also has a mischievous side to her, a prankster with a sharp mind whose difficult to catch.

She pushed her career and legacy onto her two daughters, forcing them to compete against each other for her good graces. Tess used to love and admire her mother, but the years of abuse led her to run away.

Rosa Tancer: Tess' older sister by seven years, where Tess taught herself to avoid attention altogether, Rosa hoarded it. Charming, attractive, and a talented dancer to boot, Tess often found herself living in her shadow. Tess resents her sister for not protecting her from her mother, but misses the relationship they had as children.

As a child Tess had several friends her age in Ecruteak, but her mother's control over her schedule and social life left her alone by the time she was ten.

Anyone who might potentially send her back home is considered an automatic threat in her book. This includes police officers, private investigators, Rangers, and anyone with the slightest indication of recognizing her. Aside form that Tess is very non-confrontational, and will endeavor to simply avoid those with harmful intentions towards her. The exception this is if someone else might be in trouble, in which case she'll go to any lengths to drive off the attacker and help the victim.
